Certification Training

This section provides an overview of Training Simulator Certification Classes offered within the TSC, along with guidance for enrolling and attending the training. Certification Cards will be issued immediately upon completion. Personnel must have their card when getting resources. All unit certification rosters are posted on the TSC portal for viewing.

Responsibilties:

  1. Commanders and leaders at all levels are responsible for ensuring maximum use of these courses to maintain the highest level of individual/crew level proficiency and enhance combat readiness.
  2. Commanders and leaders must ensure that all students selected to attend the courses outlined in this chapter are qualified by the prerequisites and report on time.
  3. Due to resource availability, units may be required to prioritize enrollment of personnel.

Prerequisites: Commanders and leaders are to ensure Soldiers meet these requirements. Soldiers not meeting them may be released from the course.

Driver Tsc Te300

  1. Class specific requirements are outlined in the tabbed menu below for each class offered by the TSC.
  2. No appointments (medical, dental, military, personal, etc.) during the duration of the course. Students are required to attend the entire class for certification.
  3. No transfer or other military orders pending within the next 90 days from the date of the class.
  4. No unfavorable personnel actions, court martial proceedings, or civil court action pending or in progress.

Simulator/Certification Training Reservations:

To reserve a simulator/classroom or certification training, download a request form from the 'TSC Download Center' tab. Prior to submitting the request form, users MUST first call 526-0820 or visit the Training Simulations Facility office in room 100 of bldg 2010, to make final coordination. Once final coordination is made, the form may be taken to bldg 2010 or faxed to 526-1650. Sender is required to submit an email address; upon approval of the request, an email will be sent to the sender.

Class Offerings
EST 2000

The EST2000 is a laser-based unit/institutional, indoor, multipurpose arms trainer for 11 individual and crew served weapons including pistols, rifles, shotguns, machine guns, antitank weaponry and grenade launchers. The system displays targets, terrain and weapons effects in a real time presentation on a screen 26 feet from the firer. The firing soldier experiences an approximation to the actual weapon’s sound, weight and recoil. It provides training for marksmanship, static unit collective training and “shoot/don’t shoot” judgments, and provides extensive after-action review (AAR) support.

Certification classes are held in Bldg 1698, the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 0900. Classes will cover the proper way to conduct a training session on the EST, startup and shutdown procedures, tracking unit and personnel in the EST and TSC EST Policies & Procedures. There are currently four 10-lane classrooms at Bldg #1698, and two 10-lane classroom at Bldg #2010. IAW DA Pam 350-38, individuals WILL use the EST2000 to conduct Preliminary Marksmanship Instruction (PMI), Night Qualification and NBC Qualification. It WILL NOT be used to conduct Record Fire.

  1. Class sizes are limited to 10 personnel each so units must submit a request for certification class.
  2. Personnel must be in the pay grade of E-5 or above.
  3. Personnel training in the EST will wear the Army Combat Uniform.
  4. Units are required to have at least one certified Instructor/Operator (I/O) for each classroom requested.
  5. Units must submit a by-name list of individuals for the class.

EST Safety of Use Message:

  1. Corrective action. the intent of this gpa, informational, is to increase and reinforce safety awareness in the user community and ensure soldiers are knowledgable about the safe operation of the est 2000. careful review of the est 2000 safety procedures are recommended. no material equipment changes are required. the hazards can be mitigated to acceptable risk levels by reinforcing the safety procedures listed in the est 2000 m16/m4/m203 operator's manual, page 3-11.
  2. User actions: the instructor/operator is instructed to provide the following pre-training steps:
    • Established warnings, cautions, and procedures found in technical manual, est m16/m4/m203 operator's manual, td-est-m16/m4-ops-1, page 3-11, paragraph 3.3.1. weapon safety, must be read, understood, and memorized by instructor/operator personnel prior to the operation of the est 2000 trainer.
    • Prior to the use of the est 2000 system, all soldiers will receive a safety briefing on the proper operation of the trainer and all associated malfunction procedures.
    • After the safety briefing, the soldier will visually inspect the est 2000 simulated weapons for damaged and/or loose parts. if the soldier identifies any loose parts, or damaged outer surfaces, they will not use the weapon and will report their findings to the est 2000 instructor/operator.
    • Soldiers will not connect to the system, or attempt to operate any weapon, that has loose or missing parts. do not attempt to repair or dissassemble any weapons. report discrepancies to the est 2000 instructor/operator and ensure the weapon is correctly segregated for further inspection and repair.
    • Perform weapon specific remedial action for misfire events that occur during the conduct of a training exercise.
    • Treat the simulated weapon in the same manner as a real weapon when a misfire cannot be cleared by remedial action. proceed to remove the power and air connectors of the malfunctioning weapon from the weapon box.
    • Identify the malfunctioning weapon to est 2000 instructor/operator or support maintenance personnel for troubleshooting and repair. soldiers will not dissassemble any est 2000 training weapon at any time, or for any reason. only a recognized contractor who is licensed to conduct maintenance on the est 2000 are allowed to perform these operations.
  3. Operator instructions: the following subparagraphs provide instructions on the operation of the m16, m4, m203 simulated weapons
    • Weapon safety: each m16, m4, and m203 simulated weapon has the same appearance as a fully functioning tactical weapon, with the exception of the trainer peculiar umbilical cable and an est 2000 sat module laser on the m16 and m4 simulated weapons. under certain circumstances, especially in the subdued light of a the potential for personal injury or damage to property. to avoid confusion, neither live nor blank ammunition, nor any live weapons, should be allowed in the training room.
    • Simulated weapons will not accept live or blank ammunition. any attempt, accidental or otherwise, to chamber a live or blank round may damage the simulated weapon and create an unsafe situation.
    • The following general safety precautions should be adhered to:
      • Fire m16 or m4 and m203 simulated weapons only if they are pointed downrange
      • Post warning signs for eye and ear safety at all entry doors
      • Do not allow personnel to stand downrange from the firing line
      • Instruct weapons handlers never to look directly into a barrel
      • Take the weapon off-line for testing and service at the first indication of malfunction and refer to troubleshooting procedures.
HUMMWV Egress Assistance Trainer (HEAT)

The HEAT is a crew trainer developed to train individuals in the process of safely evacuating a rolled over HMMVW, or a HMMVW rolled onto its side. Five individuals can train at the same time, TC, driver, two rear passengers and a gunner. Fort Carson currently has four HEAT trainers.

Individuals must wear ACU, ACH and IBAS at a minimum. Eye protection, elbow pads and kneepads are encouraged. No real weapons are allowed inside the trainer. There are rubber weapons, and foam items such as water bottles and ammo cans available for more realism.

Certification Classes:
HEAT Certification Classes are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 0900 in bldg #2010 and last all day. Training will cover safety procedures; identify components of the HEAT, startup and shutdown procedures, establishing a foundation for unit SOP’s, understanding rollover measures and TSC HEAT Policies and Procedures. All personnel deploying to OIF and OEF MUST complete HEAT training prior to deployment according to CENTCOM guidelines.

Certification Requirements:

  1. Units must submit training requests to the HEAT Facility for certification.
  2. Personnel must be in the pay grade of E5 or above to be certified on the HEAT.
  3. Units must have two I/O’s and a CLS (with aide bag) to conduct training on the HEAT. At a minimum, IBAS and ACH is required for all personnel training in the HEAT. Knee and elbow pads are encouraged.
Call For Fire Trainer (CFFT)

The Call for Fire Trainer provides a lightweight, rapidly deployable observed fire training system that will fulfill the need for an observed fire training device that supports all fire support missions; capable of depicting all current and future munitions and able to train all personnel in calling basic and advanced fire missions. The system is also able to recertify JFOs. It replaces the older Guardfist.

Download terayon driver. This system allows training in the calling of all types of indirect fire, to include naval gunfire. This system also allows calling for both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. The operator of the system builds his scenarios based on missions his unit is likely to encounter.

Certification Classes:
Certification classes on the CFFT system will take place in Bldg 1698, the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 0900. The system is a one instructor to thirty soldiers per classroom. We currently have two 1:30 classrooms available. One is located in building #1698 and another in building #2010. More details can be coordinated with TSC personnel at 719-526-9423. Training covers startup/shutdown procedures, initialization system, creating scenarios, running missions and TSC Policies & Procedures. Certification Class for the CFFT is an all day class.

Certification Requirements

  1. Personnel must be in the pay grade of E-5 and above, MOS 13F, for this training.
  2. Each system requires a certified Instructor/Operator.

MRAP Egress Trainer (MET)

The MRAP MET is a training system designed to support egress training and provide vehicle crewmembers the confidence needed to safely egress that vehicle in the event of a rollover. All MRAP MET system vehicle variants will consist of a simulated vehicle cab, Instructor/ Operator Station (IOS), visual monitoring system, and speaker system so that voice commands can be provided to and heard from the vehicle crewmembers.

The MRAP MET is a state of-the-art full or partial motion simulator designed for use in all phases of roll over scenarios requiring crew egress. This type of design places the students in the most realistic environment possible while providing a comprehensive learning environment with maximum retention and application of lessons learned back to the real world. This realistic trainer will provide safe and effective egress training to MRAP vehicle crewmembers.

Certification Classes
Certification classes are conducted on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 0930 in Bldg 2010 and they last all day. Training will cover safety procedures; startup and shutdown procedures, establishing a foundation for unit SOP’s, understanding rollover measures and TSC MET Policies and Procedures. All personnel deploying to OIF and OEF MUST complete MET training prior to deployment according to CENTCOM guidelines.

  1. Units must submit training requests to the HEAT/MET Facility for certification.
  2. Two certified I/Os are required to operate each trainer.
  3. Units must have three I/O’s and a CLS (with aide bag) to conduct training on the MET.
  4. Operators need to turn in a completed Composite Risk Management Worksheet, with a Moderate rating.
  5. Personnel must be in the pay grade of E5 or above to be certified on the MET.

Driver Tsc Printer

The TTP-247 thermal transfer desktop barcode printer series delivers high performance at an affordable price. Based on the design of its best-selling predecessor, the TTP-245 Plus, the TTP-247 runs at an impressive 7 inches per second, printing up to 4 inches wide at 203 dpi resolution. A second model in the series – the TTP-345 – offers high resolution 300 dpi printing at 5 inches per second. Both models offer 8 MB of SDRAM and 4 MB of onboard Flash memory. Gigabytes of Flash memory can be added via an onboard SDHC card reader.

TTP-247 series offers USB 2.0, parallel and serial connectivity, plus an optional Ethernet port for networking. It also incorporates the TSPL-EZ printer-control language, which is fully compatible with other TSC printer languages, while supporting TPLE (Translation Printer Language Eltron®) and TPLZ (Translation Printer Language Zebra®). The languages automatically decipher and translate the format of each label as it is sent to the printer. TSPL-EZ also features internal scalable True Type fonts (based on the Monotype® font engine), which are typically found only in more expensive printers.

Like its predecessor, the TTP-247 series features a user-friendly clamshell design for easy drop-in media loading, along with a rugged double-wall design that is stronger and more durable than other thermal transfer mechanisms on the market. Its innovative two-motor gear-driven engine is powerful enough to handle a 300-meter-long ribbon and label rolls up to 8.4 inches in diameter.

By using two motors instead of the usual one, TTP-247 series printers operate at lower torque, reducing noise, decreasing wear and tear, and extending printer life. The platform's user-friendly design makes it easy for operators to load and unload ribbons.

The TTP-247 series holds up to a 5-inch OD roll on a 1-inch core and, using an optional external media hanger, can accommodate a full 8.4-inch OD label roll on a 3-inch core.
